Get career ideas at incinerator open day

The open day at the Greatmoor incinerator takes place on Saturday.

It includes a guided tour of the site, near Calvert, run by waste and management company FCC Environment, and an exhibition featuring a number of the companies involved in its construction.

Representatives from engineering procurement construction company Hitachi Zosen INOVA, which designed and is building the plant, will be co-hosting the event with FCC Environment and Bucks County Council.

All the subcontractor companies that have worked on the plant during its construction have been invited to exhibit at the event and share their insights into the industry with jobseekers.

Gillian Sinclair, of FCC Environment, said: “People coming along to the open day will have the chance to see first hand how an EfW plant works and gain an insight into how to enter three industries that offer a wide range of career opportunities.

“The Bucks EfW uses some of the most advanced energy conversion technology in the world, playing its part in developing the UK’s energy from waste infrastructure and providing Bucks residents with jobs as well as power.”

Director of environment at Bucks County Council Martin Dickman said: “This open day is an excellent opportunity for young people to get informed about the opportunities out there in waste, energy and construction when they leave education.”
